Top 10 Golf Courses in Louisiana

If you ever find yourself in Louisiana, make sure to check out the stunning golf courses that are nearby. There are a total of 94 golf courses in or around Louisiana, both private and public. Let's look at the top 10 most pristine golf courses Louisiana has to offer.

10. Audubon Park Golf Course

The cleanest and best-kept greens in the greater New Orleans region may be found at Audubon Park. There are twelve par 3 holes, four par 4 holes, and two par 5 holes on the challenging 18-hole, par 62 courses, which is located among 100-year-old oak trees.

The Audubon Park golf course, which first opened in 1898 and was rebuilt in 2001, immediately became one of Southeast Louisiana's most prominent golfing locations. This course was designed by Dennis Griffiths, with sculpted Bermuda fairways, polished Tif-Eagle greens, four lagoons, and stunning landscaping.

9. The National Golf Club of Louisiana

Since 2009, the National Golf Club of Louisiana has served as the community's mainstay. From the back tees, the course is more than 7,000 yards long, with many holes that will appeal to long hitters. The difficult greens are among the biggest of any golf course in the area.

The course may play differently every time thanks to the size of the greens, which can support a range of hole positions. With 80 strategically positioned bunkers and 14 distinct lakes that are included throughout, you will be put to the test. Although the luxuriously broad fairways appear to be indifferent, the subtle 132 slopes and undulating terrain may be harsh.

8. Bayou Oaks City Park South Course

The South Course, which was restored and reopened in 2017, provides 18 holes of championship golf in New Orleans City Park. Rees Jones, Inc., a famous golf course designer, and Greg Muirhead collaborated with Torre Design Consortium to create the immaculate South Course. The South Course is located on more than 200 acres and ranges in length from 5,054 to 7,302 yards. To accommodate players of various abilities, the South Course has numerous tee-off areas.

7. Contraband Bayou Golf Club At L'Auberge Du Lac

The Club was created by Tom Fazio and Beau Welling and opened in 2005. The only public Fazio course here, the 7,000-yard, par-71 championship 18-hole golf course has a blend of aquatic and natural flora among eight magnificent lakes. ProLink GPS helps to improve your experience by providing an amazing clubhouse and a specialized beverage cart service. It has 419 fairways made of Bermuda grass. Right-handed slicers don't need to bother about water at all, or very little.

6. TPC Louisiana

The expert golf lessons at TPC Louisiana will provide just what you need, whether you're improving your game or starting from scratch. The 7399-yard Pete Dye-designed golf course, which was opened for play in 2004, contains Tifsport Bermuda Grass fairways.

With more than 100 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards on numerous holes, this layout will test your skills. The signature hole on the golf course is the last one.

5. The Wetlands Golf Course

The wetlands golf course, which has 134 slopes and a total yardage of 7293, was constructed in 2006. Even the most skilled player will find the huge bent grass greens challenging. For on-site practice, the Wetlands Golf Club has a putting green, a two-tiered grass driving range, a chipping area, and a practice bunker.

The course is always in good shape, and the staff members are the most professional.  The Wetlands Golf is an open course, and when the wind from the Gulf blows in February/March, the difficulty of the course doubles.

4. Lakewood Golf Club

The course, first opened in 1961, has hosted the New Orleans Open 26 times. Lakewood Golf course is framed by lovely oak and cypress trees, which provide a lovely scene throughout the game. The course was refurbished by Ron Garl in 2009, and he was able to maintain its original charm while giving the 18-hole, 7,002-yard, par 72 layout new fairways, tee boxes, and greens.

A new benchmark for bunkers is set with the 444-yard "Fire in the Hole." A homage to the New Orleans Firefighters is made using traps on the new 18th hole that are shaped like flames and laid in red sand.

3. Santa Maria Golf Club

Santa Maria Golf Course, built in 1987 designed by Robert Trent Jones, and a member of the famous Audubon Golf Trail, is set on 150 acres of rolling terrain and has 18 lakes and two natural streams.

This is a remarkable location for you to put your golf talents to the test, filled with sand bunkers, magnificent Bermuda fairways, and old oaks. From the championship tees, the 18-hole course is 6,969 yards long. This is a fantastic place to practice your iron shots (Par).

2. Carter Plantation

PGA champion and Louisiana native David Toms' first trademark design is located at Carter Plantation. Carter Plantation, like a delectable Louisiana gumbo, is a unique combination of numerous tastes. The magnificent 18-hole, 7,000+ yard, par-72 golf course weaves through live oak flats, cypress wetlands, and upland pine woods, three unique Louisiana regions. Golfers are surprised and challenged by 86 bunkers that are positioned strategically. Each course provides four or five tee locations, and water is a factor on eleven of the holes. The greens are carpeted with Tifeagle, while the undulating fairways are covered in Tifsport.
