The Knollwood Club is a prestigious private golf club located in Lake Forest, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Founded in 1925, the club has a rich history and is considered one of the best golf courses in the state of Illinois.

Designed by renowned golf course architect Charles B. Macdonald, the Knollwood Club golf course is a par-70, 18-hole course that spans 6,671 yards. The course is set on over 250 acres of rolling hills and mature trees, with many holes offering stunning views of Lake Michigan in the distance.

The course itself is known for its challenging layout and excellent course conditions. The fairways are narrow and lined with trees, requiring precision off the tee. The greens are fast and undulating, making putting a true test of skill. Water hazards come into play on several holes, adding an extra layer of challenge to the course.

One of the signature holes at Knollwood Club is the par-4 11th hole, which features a narrow fairway that doglegs to the left. Players must hit their tee shot over a pond and avoid the trees on the left to set up a good approach shot to the green. The green is elevated and surrounded by bunkers, making it a difficult target to hit.

Another standout hole is the par-3 13th, which requires a tee shot over a ravine to a green that slopes from back to front. The green is protected by bunkers on either side, making accuracy on the tee shot crucial.

The Knollwood Club has a rich history of hosting top-level golf events. In 1933, the club hosted the Western Open, one of the oldest professional golf tournaments in the United States. The tournament was won by golf legend Gene Sarazen.

In addition to its excellent golf course, the Knollwood Club also offers a variety of amenities for its members. The clubhouse features a bar and grill, as well as private dining rooms for special events. The club also has a fitness center, tennis courts, and a swimming pool for members to enjoy.

Overall, the Knollwood Club golf course is a true gem in the world of golf. Its challenging layout, excellent course conditions, and stunning setting make it a must-play for any serious golfer in the Chicago area.
